Have you ever had one of those weeks where everything seemed to break? This week alone our dryer broke and our relatively new TV appears to be ready to bite the dust already. As if that weren’t enough, last night our internet went out completely and it took what seemed like hours on phone with the internet company to get it fixed…only for it to be out again this morning! Plus, throw a traveling hubby and a sinus infection in the mix…
Come on out, Ashton! You got me…
I mean seriously, I have to be getting Punk’d.
Given this you’ve-gotta-be-kidding-me week, I’ve reacted as any self-respecting woman would: I’ve been drowning my woes in an inordinate amounts of coffee, stuffing my face with fresh paleo pumpkin bread, and relishing waaaaay to much dark chocolate.
So yes, I am super excited for the weekend because that means this week is o-v-e-r! Whoooo hoo!
Now that I’ve gotten that little tirade off my chest, let’s have some Friday Favorites / Five on Friday / Oh Hey! Friday fun:
ONE: I’m not even the slightest bit embarrassed to admit that the Netflix documentary Justin Timberlake + the Tennessee Kids has been on my calendar for weeks. I may or may not have done more than my fair share of ironing in front of the tv on Wednesday just so I could have an excuse to stop and watch it. It was like being front and center at a Justin Timberlake concert… only with a steam iron in hand.
TWO: My husband and probably any other sane person would argue that I have more than enough shoes in my tiny French-sized closet. I, on the other hand, totally disagree. I could easily come up with 5 pairs of shoes that I’d love to give a forever home, starting with some camel-ish colored booties. Here’s a pair that I’ve been eyeing:
THREE: I am definitely that girl that hates anything scary or gross, so it’s not surprising that I never really got into the whole Halloween scene. To top it all off, my kids have never even been trick-or-treating (gasp!), because it’s just not as much of a thing here in France.
We do, however, usually end up getting invited to a Halloween party or two every year though probably because we have quite a few non-French friends who are accustomed to celebrating American-style. Our first party is this weekend and I’m supposed to bring a halloween-themed dish for a lunch buffet.
I’ve been scouring Pinterest for some easy idea because I’m not really motivated to do anything elaborate. So far, here are some of the ideas I’m considering:
FOUR: I ran across several memes this week that were basically me in a nutshell.
My thoughts on this election
Now you know the way to my heart…
FIVE: One of my best friends is an avid reader and often passes her books on to me when she’s done. Most recently she gave me her copy of Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden. I just dove into it this week and am eager to see how it stands up to all of the hype (and criticism) that it received.
It’s pouring down rain today and all I can think about is how I’d love to curl up on the couch with a blanket, some coffee, and this book. I know that’s not really going to happen but hey, a girl can dream, right?:)
Did any of you ladies read Memoirs of a Geisha? If so, what’d you think of it?
Do you have any fun Halloween recipes that you’ve tried and loved in the past?
