1 – OOTD Love : I’m loving all the denim trends this season. Cropped, distressed, raw-edge, or frayed, there are so many fun ways of mixing it up in the jean department.
I recently went to Zara on a mission to get some raw-edge jeans, but I ended up falling for a more fashion-forward ultra-frayed pair.
Note: These are theoretically “slouchy” jeans, but as you can see, they fit more like skinny jeans on me. Not sure how I should feel about that…
I quickly learned that not everyone will share my affinity for these jeans when I tried them on for my 6-year old fashionista:
Oh la la! C’est moche!
– Mais non, c’est pas moche.
For those of you who don’t speak French…
Ohhhh! Those are ugly!
– No, they’re not.
How about HIDEOUS, then?
Despite the fact that my little side kick doesn’t approve, I’m loving these jeans, especially when paired with this off-the-shoulder top and flat lace-up d’Orsay shoes, both of which are also from Zara.
Put together a similar look with these pieces:
2 – Leather Tassel Charger: I am so un-crafty it’s not even funny, but I recently pinned a tutorial on how to make a leather charger tassel. Here’s to hoping my craftier sisters will want to make some of these with me this summer while I’m stateside!
3 – Spirulina : Chances are that you health nuts out there probably know and love spirulina, a blue-green algae that’s proven to be a nutrient gold mine. This superfood, which is available in powdered form, is notably an impressive source of protein and beta-carotene, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
A month or so ago, I picked up a bag of spirulina. I’ve been adding spirulina to my smoothies here and there, but I have decided it’s time to branch out and find other ways to incorporate it into my diet. Thanks to Pinterest, I came across recipes for Raw Hemp Algae Bars and for Vegan Spirulina Protein Power Bites, both of which I’m dying to try!
4 – #Girlboss : As always, I’m a little late to the game, but I finally got myself a copy of #Girlboss. This New York Times Best Seller tells the rags-to-riches story of Sophia Amoruso, founder and executive chairman of Nasty Gal, a $100+ million e-tailer.
The book received raved reviews and I’m admittedly curious to see if it’ll live up to the hype. With that being said, I’ve also read some relatively harsh critics, so it could be a total flop. Nonetheless, I figure it should, at the very least, be an amusing read given that there’s a hashtag in title:)
5 – A Simply, but Fun Reminder : I finally bought my tickets for our trip to NC this summer, which means the countdown is officially on!
Are you counting down the days ’til summer like I am?
What’s your favorite trend is this season?
