Watches and I have a rocky history. The first watch I ever owned was from one of my middle school boyfriend and it came from the jewelry section of Target. I loved that cheaply made watch for about as long as I loved his sagging pants. When we eventually broke up, the quickly got lost in the bathroom drawer somewhere underneath my very impressive collection of scrunchies.
Just as I swore off saggy-pant boys (permanently), I also swore off watches for the next decade or so. I know being anti-watches is a little weird, but I had my reasons….
I didn’t need a watch, or so I reasoned. After all, I had a cell phone to tell me the time. Plus, I had
dainty abnormally thin wrists, so I always felt like watches just looked too clunky on my arm.
Boy, do I wish someone had just sat me down way back when and laid out all the reasons to invest in a real watch?! I mean, why didn’t some well-meaning gal pal corner me and set me straight:
Listen up, girl. Sure, you could keep checking the time on your flip phone, or you could actually pony up and get a big girl watch. Then you’d actually know the time without having to pull out that dope phone of yours……And, even more importantly, forgive me for being blunt here, but your accessories game is weak. As in, pathetic. A few good watches would be a good place to start…
*Note: I needed this intervention way back before we found ourselves in iPhone-atopia. Oh, and that was also back when dope was considered an acceptable adjective.
Fast forward to my very late twenties when my older sister finally sat me down and gave me the talk. No, not that talk. Focus, ladies. I was referring to the You’re an adult now and you need to invest in a real time-piece talk.
Ouch, it was like ripping off a band-aid. It hurt, but it’s what I needed. And so I bought my first big girl watch and subsequently became a watch aficionado.
If you’ve been around here long enough, it’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of the Swedish brand Daniel Wellington. Their sleek and sophisticated watches are, dare I say, the epitome of understated elegance. You can imagine my excitement, then, when Daniel Wellington sent me their newest watch, the Classic Petite. This statement timepiece launched earlier this week and it is to-die-for!
The beautiful mesh strap is lightweight and comes in rose gold like mine or silver. The strap is easily adjustable after reading the included directions which is important for me. Remember that whole oddly skinny wrist problem? Not a problem with this baby.
Oh, and did I mention that you can choose either a white or black dial?! I mean, seriously. It’s almost to good to be true.
I know we’ve already established that I have a watch fetish, so it should come as no surprise that I kind of want one of every possible version of this watch 🙂 I am completely smitten by its modern look and design!
Bravo, DW. You’ve done it again… absolute perfection.
