Given that I especially enjoy the Five on Friday portion of my best friend and macaron-making extraordinaire’s blog, I figured I’d join in on the fun.
1 – JEWELRY CRUSH: Whisk Necklace from Food52. This popped up on my Facebook feed the other day and I immediately fell in love. I guess this makes it official: I’m a bake-aholic. The gold version of the necklaces runs at a hefty $325. If you’re more of a silver kind of girl, the silver option will only set you back $66. If baking isn’t your thing, this could still be a cute gift idea for any baking enthusiasts in your entourage.
2 – FOR THE BOOKWORM IN ME: The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair: A Novel by Joel Dicker. My mother-in-law lent me this book, boasting that both she and my sister-in-law had read it in only two days each. Needless to say, given that the French version is 852 pages, I immediately informed my mother-in-law that I’d need to borrow the book for longer than two days. Having two young kids isn’t conducive to binge reading!
With that being said, the book has been a page turner from the start. The original French version won the 2012 Grand Prix du roman de l’Académie française and sold over 2 million copies in Europe. It was published in the USA in May 2014 and was instantly a New York Times Bestseller. I’m only about half-way through, so no spoilers please!
Here’s the French version for any of my France-based followers:
