If you’re one of those lucky east coast people who has been basking in upper 60 to lower 70 degree weather lately, let me just start by saying NO FAIR. Forgive my whining, but you have no idea how hard it is to see all of you wearing your spring–ish clothes already, meanwhile I’m over here in a three shirts, tights under my jeans, a parka and fur boots trying to avoid going outside whenever possible!
Seriously though, we had record low temperatures in France this week, but things are warming up just in time for the weekend. Of course, by warming up I don’t mean like Hey, let me take my kids to the park to play kind of warm, but more like I might ditch the tights under my jeans today kind of warm. Baby steps….
But enough weather talk for now! Let’s get down to this week’s Friday Favorites:
ONE – I’m over half way through my first Whole 30 (I’ll give more deets on that another day) and I’m pretty much loving it. My only qualm with it is that my face has been breaking out like crazy the entire time. I’ve never really struggled with acne before, barring that time when I got over enthusiastic over my new Clarisonic Mia 2 and used it too often, so I’m assuming my current skin issue is linked to Whole 30-induced hormonal changes or perhaps to increased consumption of coconut products (Google told me that could be the problem… ???).
I was at home all day yesterday so I decided to give my skin a make-up free day complete with some TLC. After showering and washing my face with my Clarisonic Mia 2, I dabbed on some Glamglow Supermud mask as a spot treatment, followed by the Glamglow Thirstymud Hydrating Treatment. I had all intentions of stopping there, until I caught a way too close up glimpse of my make up free face with just enough sun light to make me want to gag! I hadn’t noticed it before, but the pores in my t-zone looked surprisingly gigantic and I had loads of ….. brace yourself…black heads?! Ick. Not fun.
A quick Pinterest search later and I was in the kitchen mixing lemon juice and baking soda to make a paste, which I then gently applied to my t-zone. Twenty minutes later I washed it all off and was thrilled to already see a huge improvement, with almost no visible blackheads after only one treatment! Definitely planning to incorporate this into my skin care routine!
