Q: What do my hot cinnamon rolls, fresh French baguettes with salted butter, and Sephora have in common?
A: My self-control is no match for any of the above! All of my good intentions and self-discipline go out the window when faced with such things.
Ceci dit, when I got a coupon in the mail recently for 25% off at Sephora, I decided that if ever there was a time to indulge, it was with a coupon in hand…
A few clicks and few visits to Sephora later (reusable coupons are my favorite) and I’m happy to say that I’ve fallen in love with some products that I couldn’t wait to share with you.
So, without further ado, here are Five Amazing Beauty Products to Try Right Now:
1 – Glamglow Supermud: Glamglow has a reputation for their outstanding, luxurious skin products and so far, I’m convinced that they live up to all the hype. I splurged on the Supermud Cleansing Treatment and love the whole experience of this mask, from start to finish: the packaging, the menthol smell of the mask, the texture, the tingle-factor, and the way my skin felt afterward.
This mask works for all types of skin and effectively helps with common skin concerns like black and white heads, breakouts, discoloration, razor bumps, and even ingrown hairs. The signature gray color of the mask comes from the Activated-X charcoal which helps draw out all of the stuff that’s clogging your pores and give your skin a nice, deep clean.
Perhaps the best thing about this mask is that it looks to be the master of all products for reducing pore size. I couldn’t believe how much smaller my pores looked immediately after using the mask!
And, it doesn’t stop there: this stuff left my skin feeling like a baby’s
butt skin. Seriously, such. soft. skin.
Confession: I may or may not have interrupted my husband’s soccer watching to make him touch my face and express his awe at how soft my skin felt after using the Supermud mask.
Glamglow products are definitely on the pricier side, so one way to get more for your money would be to use this mask only in your problem areas like the t-zone or to use it as a spot treatment on an as-need basis.

2- Glamglow Thirstymud: In addition to the Supermud, I also splurged for the super-hydrating Thirstymud Hydrating Treatment. This mask is everything I hoped it would be; it smells so darn delicious and it goes on smoothly without being too oily or too thick. The mask is cooling and soothing and I find it to be very calming! I’ve been using this every other night as a leave-on mask and je suis accro.
3 – Sephora Red Essence Lip Stain: When I purchased a few items in-store at Sephora, I got home to find that they had slipped this Red Essence lip stain in my bag as a gift, in addition to the usual sample-sized creams. It’s like she read my mind! I had been wanting to find a new red lipstick, but I hated to buy and be disappointed with another red hue.
Pas de deception this time: I love this red! Next time I’m in a red lips kind of mood, I’ll definitely be reaching for this lip stain.
Oh, and did I mention that this stuff stayed on as well as my normal lipstick!? I kind of expected it to be gone within an hour but alas, not at all! Plus, it’s marked down to $7 (originally $14), making it a great option if you want to add a red lip color to your repertoire without spending too much.
4 – Formula X “Love Chemistry” : Metallic nail polishes are hot this season, so I felt completely justified in picking up this sparkly, gold polish. I tested ever sparkly gold polish Sephora had to offer and this was by far my favorite! It’s such a fun polish for those days when you want to add a little glam to your look.
5 – Sephora Collection Brow Thickener: For my birthday, Sephora sent me a gift certificate for a free trip to their Benefit Brow Bar. To be honest, I hadn’t had my eyebrows waxed in at least 8 years, so it was well overdue. Bien sûr, I occasionally pluck with my favorite Tweezerman Point Tweezers, but I’ve always been too scared to attempt to actually shape my brows on my own.
Marion at the Benefit Brow Bar at Sephora (Place de la Capitole) did a fabulous job taming and reshaping my neglected brows and I was thrilled with the results.
Now, when it comes to the whole brow makeup trend, I was a little slow to convert. Honestly, I’m doing good to get basic makeup on in the mornings! Do I really need to add extras like brow makeup into my routine?!
I was convinced brow make-up was superfluous until I tried the Sephora Collection Brow Thickener. For half the price of most of your brow gels, this product does a great job at thickening and perfecting your brows!
So, ça y est: I am officially a brow make-up convert despite my initial lack of interest in the whole brow makeup trend.
Note: I’ve tested the Benefit Gimme Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel a few times and really liked the results. If you are willing to splurge a little more ($24), I definitely recommend it. But, if you’re looking for a bargain brow thickener ($12), the Sephora Collection Brow Thickener is for you.
